Welcome to the "i'm waiting to finish my laundry so I can pack and go to bed" blog. Yes, I am leaving on another grand adventure. My weekends are turning out to be full of them. Well on Sunday, I ventured on the Big Scary Step I actually went INTO houses and looked at them. Goodness some of them were scary. One had this awkward layout and there were still people living there, and they had their crap everywhere! It was filthy, even by my standards. So you get by the filth, and the main beam in the basment has been cut. I don't think I'm going to be making an offer on that one.
The next one was cute, but it had only one room I liked, and the rest of the layout was kinda iffy, and it didn't float my boat forever. The third one also had people who were moving out, and the toilet looked like it had shit in it. Yes, shit. Human fecal matter. And the furnace was ancient. It was of the old octopus design. I think the furnace in Clue the movie had it. it scared me. I would have nightmares about the furnace. The fourth one had a family in it, but they were at least neat and tidy. It looked like the basment had been flooded and I suspect the half-bath in the basment was used for illegal substances as opposed to normal bathroom uses. But other than that (which freaked me out), it had a neat design and a big open attic room. Yeah, that big open attic room... that was where 5 kids slept. Without a bed. The only bed was for the parents and then a crib for the baby. Yeah, and I bet all 6 kids were under 7.
So the last house would probably need a new roof, but it was built in 1860 which is plain cool and had this one adorable room with a fireplace and a bay window. Talk about charm. :) It was a sweet looking house with more space than I'd know what to do with. So I'm keeping on looking. I have to contact my agent and see about looking at another few houses.
