Forgive me Susie for I have sinned. It has been a long time since my last blog. A week and a half I'd say. That is poorly done of me. This blog is also dedicated to Lizzy who shares a cool name with me and Shann who provided excelent moral support on my tag board and in IMs.
So the required plugs over with, I just have to say that:
I'M BUYING A HOUSE!
Yeah, it's pretty much in the bank now. I wanted to wait until I was sure that I was going to get it. But we got the results of the contingency today, and the problem with the furnace that could either have been a big huge problem or a little tiny problem turned out to be the little tiny problem so it's all good and easily fixable. YAY! And I've been to the bank, and they're putting my mortgage through and I sent my little application off to the SU mortage program. Which is cool, because SU guarantees the loan, so I can finance the whole thing and not pay a mortage penalty. And that is major rockage for a first time buyer like myself.
So begin gushing about the house: It is two stories tall, and part of it looks very A-frame-ish in that it has a steep roof for part of it, though there are little gables that stick out. Three bedrooms, one bathroom (not a problem as it is just me and the cats). That's all upstairs. And a proper stairway to the attic. No pull-down stuff. I'd have to do some work in the attic before I let my cats play up there, else they'd have tons of fun sliding down into the eaves and there are nails and other nasty things up there. ICK! Anway, you go downstairs and there is a living room, an all-weather sun-porch, a dining room, a very nice-sized kitchen, and an office-type room. And then there's the basement. And the basement is basementish.
So it is very cute, hardwood floors throughout. Built in 1925, so it's almost as old as my grandpa.
Speaking of my grandpa. My dad is trying to find him a Gandalf-type walking stick. Because my granpda is getting old that way. I jump to Lord of the Rings because I can hear Bilbo saying "A very good year, almost as old as I am" when I talk about my house being almost as old as my grandpa. Not that my grandpa is very hobbit-like. Way too tall. He doesn't have that 'roundiness'. And he wears shoes. And his feet aren't hairy as far as I can tell.
So anyway, it's time for me to wait. And I have to say congratulations to my friend Sue (who is not Susie) who got a new stove/oven so now can bake properly and who is also getting a new house, and who is excitedly waiting for me to buy a house so she knows what to do when she buys a house of her own.
And the best thing about it is: It's still cheaper than renting!
