I guess this makes it more of a week since I've blogged. Well during that week I've gone rather insane. I've been pulling out my hair and generally having breakdowns and whatnot. In fact, I needed to feel like I wanted to get something done. So I started making a hobbit-sized cloak. It's a little bigger than hobbit-sized, but then again so is the person I'm making it for. On the cooler side, it will be reversible and have a hood and man it took me a bit to get it all worked out. I cut it out during Fellowship of the Ring extended version, and sewed the hood during Muppet Treasure Island. I sewed the front panels during the very end of Emma and pinned up the rest during Jane Eyre. Yes, I do my best work during movies.

It's very relaxing to make something and get it mostly finished. Especially something that was intended for Early December. But as long as it's done by mid-March, it will be ok. That way it can be a birthday present as well. Perhaps even an apartment-warming gift.

So my sewing machine and I are becoming friends again. When did I wind the bobbin? During one of those movies. Yes, I'm doing a mindless movie weekend, but as soon as I get a phone call, I'm going to have to drive to work to make some faxes, and do some paperwork. It's bright out right now and I'm watching One Fine Summer. My butt would conform to the cushions in the chairs if it weren't for the cats that wan tto go in and out all the time. And before the day is over, I get to sew up the cloak, turn it right-side-out and do some last bit of stitching and getting fasteners put on and whatnot.

Well that's about it. I know I should have blogged more often, but overwhelmedness will sometimes do that to people.

Yay! It's Saturday. I'm going to look at a house at 2pm (approx. 4 hours) with my parents. It's a house fr me, but whereas I'd be like "ooh, pretty" my dad is Mr. Super Overprotective Father Guy. Therefore, he'll be looking for lots of other things that wouldn't cross my mind because the thought of me getting a house is like "oooh pretty!" I mean, I know you have to keep an eye out for water damage in the basement, because that means it leaks and water in the basement is icky! And then there's things like keeping an eye on the slope of the roof, and on the sealing around windows and doors and stuff. And he would know better weather it is just a "easy fix" problem or if it's a "$10,000 in repairs" type problem.

I don't want to buy a house with $10,000 in repairs type problems. I want to move in and be blissful. But then there's phone stuff and heating stuff, and cable stuff, and roadrunner (cable modem) stuff, and paking my stuff and moving my stuff and... *sigh* Anyways, it's a reason why it is a big scary step. It means that I'd be a veritable adult! I could be self-sufficient! And that is scary.

Well, it's finally stopped snowing. I've had miserable commutes into work from Wednesday to Friday. Angus (my car) has developed an aversion to snow. He hates it. I think it comes from the fact that he had to try to plow through a foot of it on Christmas (see archives). He expresses to me his displeasure, and I tell him it will get better. It will. Snow melts, and that's a good thing.

Regardless, it's way too cold out now, and the cats are developing cabin fever really bad. They're bored, I can tell. They want something, and the laser-pointer is just not as effective in the sunlight. There goes Orpheus whining again.

Hey! It took me 50 minutes sitting in my car to get to work this morning. It's Lake-effecting like a mo-fo out and I went through a white-out and passed 3 cars off the road.

On the other hand, I did have an interesting dream in which it was somehow halloweenie out and people trick-or-treated by walking down the street in large, orderly, groups two-by-two and we just had to throw the candy in as they walked past. They didn't even look from side to side, slow down or anything. It made me pissy. Yeah, and there were christmas-light structures (one was a camel). It was at my house in Windfield. And it was snowing, and I had to do substitute teaching at 10am for Mr. Parker in Richfield Springs, only it was blizzarding like it was here, but Richfield was still open. Off all the schools on the list (which I heard over and over), Richfield was still open. Funny thing was, was that by now my Windfield house was located in Baldwinsville--making Richfield Springs an hour and fifteen/twenty minutes away on a GOOD day. *GAH!*

Well, if my day isn't all boring as heck. It was very long at work today, at 2 it seemed like it should be 5. And I've got yoga at 7, so I still have a few minutes to blog before I have to leave and then Jen will get on sometime. So I'm home alone now, killing time, isn't that good of me?

I suppose I could go into one of my long rants about several things I like to get on my soapbox about. But I don't feel like doing that at the moment. I'm actually rantless. Well I'm not entirely. But that is not for here until I can actually get down and write it coherently, because it HAS to have the correct phrasing. Otherwise, it will just come out wrong, and I'm too BLAH at the moment to try and do it here.

Blahness generally isn't a good thing. Of course, it would have to do with the Buffy Rerun that's on now. Stupid Veruca.

Anyways, I'll feel better after yoga, I'm sure, because it always makes me feel both relaxed and energized. But I need to find my yoga clothings so I suppose I should stop blathering on at the moment and just go and get my comfy-clothings on. Yoga in a turtleneck is bad, and I can't do it in stockings. Especially since bare feet is preferred.

How wonderful is it that there's an exercise PREFERRED to be done in bare feet.

But what I really want to do is be able to see all three LotR movies all at once. Though my own house would be cool too. *Makes mental note to coordinate with my parents and BJ going back to the one house* Well, apparently, there's a reason why I don't blog every day. Because my blogs are mindless ramblings that concern nothing in particuluar, and it's just whatever my fingers type out.

I'm giving a plug to Lizzy (I think that's the right link) because she comes and tags my board a lot and says she hops over here daily.

And Orpheus has 'that look' in his eyes which makes me think that he neds a ball to chace or to go outside or to attack another small fuzzy creature in the house, so I REALLY must go now!

Go me! There's actually a house that I'd want to let my father in to put the once over! It's apparently on a pretty quiet street, it's got hardwood floors throughout. A little heated porch on the front that is apparently lovely for plants. It's got a bookcase in it, built in, and 3 bedrooms (though I might just use one bedroom for a dressing room/closet).

The next two houses, we couldn't get into because they didn't have lock-boxes on them. But one, on closer inspection, looked like it had a lot of damage on the outside, and some indicators that the previous owners may have lapsed in payment. The next house (pretty much 3 in a row) had a lock-box but no key in it, so we couldn't go in.

The last house was nice (not as nice as one mentioned above). Not to mention, that I looked at the house next door previous, and it was scary, and there are apartments across the street. It wasn't as well maintained as house above. So anyway, yeah, I'll probably go back to the house listed above and have another looksee with my parents. Other than that, I have to peer at a map and see what else is out there.

Look Susie I blogged.

Well another weekend has gone by when I have done absolutely nothing. And felt good about it. I continued plugging away at The Silmarillion and I watched Gosford Park (which rocked my socks off). What else? I got film developed from last August. Go me. Few of the pictures came out. :( But it was dark out and I had no flash, and I tried to adjust the camera accordingly, but I'm still very much an amature at this. I recall right now how deliciously toasty it was in DC in August and weep at the tepmerature now. Ah well. I'm looking forward to tomorrow and peeping in at the houses. YAY!

On other random notes, I make honey roasted almonds again because they were far too yummy last week. I've got yoga twice this week, which I have to get my body used to because on the outside, it may look laughable, but you REALLY work your body doing yoga. If you're doing it right (and I've been adjsuted to doing it right and MAN there's a huge difference). I'm thinking of also signing up for a random class on mythologies. Just humanistic stuff. *sigh* And then there are projects to slog through. One due Thursday, one due the following Friday. SO-o, not much going on. That's my life or lackthereof.

Funny thing about harassment. Well in certain circumstances, it works, doesn't it? I'm not naming names, but I am linking links.

Ah well. I haven't talked about the Big Scary Step in a long time. Well, because I haven't really been out looking. Yes, it's that scary. But I'm going out on Monday to look at 3 or 4 houses. The funny thing is that on Tuesday, my parents are going out to look at houses. With the same agent. Yes, BJ was their agent to find the house we're in now, she's my agent for finding a house near work and is now my parents' agent again. So I'm going looking once more. See if any of these are nice-ish. I mean, some of them, I would RENT, but I just couldn't see myself OWNING.

And I smell popcorn right now and have developed a craving *makes mental note to visit vending machines*

Well, I'll talk about the houses after I see them, I'm sure. Yay for archives, so I can go back and see things about the houses I was in before. You know, I want one that doesn't squick me out. *sigh*

Here's an old convo I need to add. No wonder Orlando is scared of the internet. I would be too. My deepest apologies to Orlando. Really. I would never mob and scream in real life, and I doubt that I would ever meet him. *sigh* So anyway, the convo:

Me: Shells fell in a plot-hole... got sucked into Middle-earth
Jen: I guess so
Jen: in the mines of Moria or something
Beanies Dragon: I'd say no
Jen: no?
Me: near the Rohirrim
Jen: oh
Me: Helm's Deep
Me: where Legolas whips out his can of whoop-ass
Jen: nnah
Jen: the swamps
Me: no
Jen: they had cans back then?
Me: lol
Me: his lembas-packet o' whoop-ass?
Jen: lmao I was just thinking that
Me: see if Shells saw that, then she would just be dumstruck by Legolas's awesome Action Elf moves
Me: therefore she'd be sucked in forever
Jen: Legolas can put some action moves on me
Me: *nods*
Me: rrower!
Jen: lol
Me: he'll come to Utah with us and Orlando
Jen: He can strike me down with his bow lol
Jen: woo hoo!
Jen: That'd be fun
Jen: Well there's: Legolas, Orlando and Pirate Orlando
Me: oooh
Jen: we might not even need Orlando lol
Jen: just Legolas and Pirate Orlando
Me: we'd always need orlando
Jen: well true
Me: just think
Me: he can spawn more copies of himself for us
Me: outback orlando
Jen: Orlando version: 3.0
Me: ranger orlando
Me: rent-boy orlando (who would be useless for our purposes)

Me: which has way too many bad mental images
Jen: you said trojan

Article on the Space Ants. Yes, this is a true story.

And a joyous Imbolg to everyone. Yes, this is the rfirst day of spring. Honor Brigid and her cloak of stars! Honor motherhood! Clean out all the winter blahs. Have a feast!

Well I'll be having a feast later, but dessert is already made. I just finished honey-roasting some almonds which came out marvelous, and later we'll be having some lamb and whatnot, mashed potatoes, yumminess. It is going to be a very almondy dinner as there will be chopped almonds in with the lamb. Anyway, I got all my recipes over at Goode Cookery, there's alink in my links section over to the side. There is lots of yummy stuff there. But I think it's time for me to do some organizing.

But not before I point out moment of recognition for the brave Space Ants who died yesterday. Don't think me mean and cruel for not honoring the poeple, because it has to be pretty much hellish on their friends and families. But what the news barely touches upon are the experiments that went up in the Columbia with the crew. A local high school managed to get one of their experiments approved by NASA and sent up into space. And it was to test the effects of zero gravity on the tunneling behavior of ants. And the last that was heard, that colony of Space Ants were in bliss up in space. Apparently they were tunneling faster than the control colony back on earth. Like 5 times faster or something. And it was really cool that they managed to keep themselves relative as far as up and down went, and the students feared that they would die of overexertion (if they had been tunneling in natural soil as opposed to the nutrient stuff they lived in so they could eat and work at the same time). So the little space ants in their little ant space-suits are no more. No coming back to see how they would react with gravity again. No telling tales to the other ants at the HS, telling them how wonderful space was. And that makes me sad.

*sigh*
