Joyous Samhain!
I'm THIS MANY! for Halloween this year. Yes, I know, it makes no sense. In essence, I am being my inner child. She is 6 (according to the quiz) but I'm being 5 today because you can do it with one hand, and when you're holding a giant squishy bunny and a blankie and a giant lollipop, doing things with one hand is good!

Ride of the Valkyries
A funny thing happened to me at fight practice last night. I got wrapped in duct-tape. Not only that, I got corseted in duct-tape. Yes, a duct-tape bodice, which made me look rather like I was about to step out on stage and sing Brunhilda. It was fun. Now I have a bodice pattern. Ginger says it should be made of leather. Which is an option, I suppose. Leather "boobs on a platter" could work. Though there could be several bodice-interpretations made from this pattern.
Another interesting thing is the fact that since I came from yoga to fight practice, and had been taking yoga off-and-on for like 2 years or more now, that my posture is still pretty good. Which meant that the back piece of my bodice was a striaght line that could be cut on the fold of the fabric. So instead of 6 bodice pieces, I've got 5. Cool. :) Apparently most people aren't that way. Thank you yoga!
I still have the duct-tape wrap as it was cut off my body. Well half of it is in one piece, the other was transferred to paper to make the official pattern. I shall have to make a mock-up soon. Then get my hands on some fabric to actually make something of the pattern. And then wear it for Yule. Or some other event since I've got plans for garb for 7 Deadlies.
Okay... must run along now...

Huzzah, an extra hour of sleep!
I'm ready for the masked ball... Now I just have to wait a week. I finished my overdress (well, finished enough to wear) and I've completed my mask (which matches the overdress). The mask was so much fun to make, though when I do it again, I'll just start with gluing down the edges with the hot glue gun as opposed to the craft glue which took a long time to dry.
I've got scanning to do, but I'll do that tomorrow. After I sleep in an extra hour. I wish I had more to say, but I don't.
I cat-napped my parents cats for the weekend as I was charged with watching them. They're kinda skittish right now, but they're doing okay. They've been through a slew of upheavals recently so I don't blame them for being jumpy. Euphrates is being the brave one, but then again, she always is. I have to return them tomorrow when my parents get home. Getting them in the boxes again will not be fun, but having them here at the moment is a good thing.
Must water plants tomorrow too. Some of them are looking a little... um... weepy. Things to do and well, I just want to sit and veg the rest of today (all 35 or so minutes of it). Anyways, that's it from here. :)

And Thus God Spake...
"Have this event." And there was an event. And it was Good.
So I spent my time mostly in the kitchen. Not an entirely bad thing. I got to be in on the cooking of the feast. It was fun. I got to cut things up and stir and mix and, in general, help out the Feastocrat. Not too bad for my second event ever in the SCA. I got to wear my fun black Italian Ren dress, which was very comfy. I have to finish trimming the overdress for Yule.
But AFTER the feast. After, there was my current reigning Favorite Person in the World, Lyev, who is a dance-master, and he taught us dances and we did them and it was very very very good! Not only did he know English country dances, but also Italian Renaissance dances more like the ones that I learned when performing when the UR Chamber Singers did Monteverdi's Songs of Love and War along with a group from the Eastman School of Music. THUS, he became my Favorite Person in the World. But he's not in town anymore, so could be deposed at any moment as my whim changes. :)
And it was a fun, extatic time at the event. And then I crashed. That was Saturday. Sunday was mostly vegging. Got to see a Viggo movie I hadn't yet seen before. And it was good.

The Lunch Break that Wasn't
Sometime here, I've apparently had a lunch break, though I was busy working through most of it. Oh well. Taking time to blog in compensation. For the past two nights, I've had dreams that some of the people I know mundanely were in the SCA. And not my college friends where it would make sense to have them there, but people I know from work and the mundane world. It makes my braincells go SPOINK! (thanks to Kate for coining the sound of braincells dying.
When I woke up on Tuesday, Mr. Orpheus was sitting there sleeping on three of my pillows on my bed (I had one). They got stacked in the middle of the night, and he was sitting there as happy as can be, King of all he surveyed (had he been awake). Yesterday, Mr. Orpheus decided that the red wool overdress I'm making for an upcoming event (don't know if it'll be for Yule of 7 Deadlies) was a nice place to take a nap. I wouldn't have minded so much had I not been HEMMING it at the time! Silly Mr. Orpheus!
On the plus side, I've got garb for the event this Saturday, but I have to wash my dancing garb (as seen here) and put little stitches in the top that I might not fall out quite so easily! It would make me feel much more comfortable not worrying about falling out!
Anyways, time to get back to working on things. Got a lot to do and less time to do it in and going to visit Joanne and her Fabric store after work! woo!
PS. Ally needs a hug.
PPS. Lizzy needs a plug and a new chapter of the Grimalkin (soon, I promise!)
PPPS. Susie deserves a plug, Ginger is working on her site, and Jen needs to blog.

Gah... conference all day
I hate stupid drivers. Really. What's wrong with going the speed limit and going at green lights? No clue here. The Conference went well.
I've decided that I'm going to take up yoga again. It'll help my dancing. Especially getting my hips loosening up again. Speaking of dancing, there were pictures taken at the last practice.

Gah... being at work on a Sunday...
So I forget to print something for the Conference tomorrow, so I have to go into work. Not a really entirely bad thing that I have to do because it's like 5 minutes from my house, but it's an annoyance anyways. All I have to say is good thing I rate high enough on the totem-pole to have a key to the building. go me. Anyways, this will be continued at home when I get back now that I've printed what needs to be printed. Must check mail while I'm here...

Yes Lizzy, it is indeed more fun stuff. Though of course my parents won't buy me a pet. I apparently AM my own pet! WOO HOO!

I laughed, I cried, I mooed.
Yes, I went to see Rent. The bad thing about musicals such as Rent, is that despite knowing what is going to happen, despite knowing that people are going to die or almost die, and despite knowing the music, I STILL weep like a baby! *sigh* And it's not only Rent either. It's like ALL the musicals I know. I STILL weep like a baby when the sad parts go.
And I KNOW I'll be bawling my eyes out when RotK hits theaters. Which reminds me I have to call the theater and get tickets for the marathon before the midnight showing! WEEEE!

~Beanie's Dragons play on Windmills!~
Look, it's a new layout!
I've got stuff to blog about, but I really should hem my veils for dance practice Thursday and tomorrow I'm going to see Rent with Kate, my new hostee/hatchling.
This fun layout was inspired by the arms of the Barony of Delftwood. It's a windmill. Anyway, I sat in photoshop and played with lines and circles and it came out this way. Coded in notepad (of course). Sure beats the migraine layout!
I'll blog more later. Look Lizzy the tagboard is back.

The Eighth Level of Hell
Wee! A plug for Ginger one of my new hostees who has at least some website stuff up. You can go check it out, but be warned, some of her writing is *cough* naughty. Don't say I didn't warn you!
Lizzy, I took my tag-board down as it wasn't getting many tags, but I can put it back up when I'm back in editing my website again.
Susie has a pretty new layout up. So does Lizzy. I'm in the process of making one.
Onto important things. I've got a bit of black dress done... Italian Ren. It needs trim to make it slightly less than funeral garb. I also need to ponder attaching my gauntlets. But that will be after I complete my overdress. Pretty red. Must go get trim though between work and Fight Practice tonight... and maybe some pretty red ribbon to attach the gauntlets. oooh.... I'm liking this idea...

C'mere monkey boy!
Brooding blond-haired, blue-eyed buff former Abercrombie modles turned actors are a good thing. Especially when they playTarzan in a new TV show, and really don't have a lot of lines to say. Haven't seen enough to know if he's a good actor or not, but it's certainly "ooh, pretty man!" worthy, and lights up the TV Sundays at 9 on the WB. And he runs around shirtless too!
My kind of TV show! :-D

Not for the Squeamish
So I forgot to tell you about the mouse on Wednesday. Wednesday, I got home from dinner and went upstairs to get all in comfy clothes and got to the bathroom and whatnot, and there was a little tiny mouse in my tub!
Step 1: calmly go downstairs, pick up both cats and deposit them in the bathtub too. They were like, ooh, hey a mouse, let us sniff it.
Step 2: pick up mouse by the tail and bring it outside. The cats were like "ooh, hey, hanging batty toy!" They followed me down the stairs quite intently.
Step 3: put mouse outside. Orpheus (the smart one--he went to college) goes outside with it and continues sniffing the mouse and following it to wherever and I really don't want to know! Figaro goes back inside and runs up the stairs and looks in the bathtub for it.
silly kitties.
I've not got fabric to make my first Italian Ren attempt. I just need the pattern now. That is my today's project after work!
[edit] forgot to wave to my happy commenters Susie and Lizzy and to Jen whose back is starting to feel better!

Birthday wishes to Lizzy!
It's Lizzy's Birthday! Yes ma'am it is. So happy Birthday Lizzy. She's reached 20 which is monumental as she is no longer a teenager. :) Yet she still can't drink (in America).
Anyways, had a cozy little dinner for one last night. Made it myself. Chicken sensously slathered with Dinosaur BBQ Creole Honey Mustard Sauce (it's new and good: "We use the finest ground Creole Mustard and all natural honey - this vibrant beauty is tangy, sweet and spicy. It'll have its way with your pork and chicken, your tenderloins will tingle, your salads will sing, and your dips are gonna dance when you laissez les Creole Honey Mustard roulez..." But then what can you expect from a company that gives you a product called Cajun Foreplay Spice Rub). Over couscous.
So I stayed in and hunkered down on my couch and watched TV all snuggled in a blanket and had my dinner and snuggled more with my little gray kitten. And it was good.
Time to turn on the heat soon.
