So I'm a young biddy
Kate and I are such goofballs. We are. We really really are. We smuggled knitting into the theater when we went to go see Return of the King last night. Knitting. Knitting! Like two little old ladies who either live alone with cats. Or in Kate's case, lives with a pair of cats and a companion. Yes, we are young biddies. Does this mean that when we're like 70 or so, we're going to be biker grannies?
I meant to get online before this to write a journal, but I didn't. Friday night, went to see Hidalgo with Kate and Ginger. It was a need. The first weekend without an event since the movie opened, and it was a need. Had to get our Viggo Fix somehow! :) Anyway, trailers were semi-interesting. Beef was shown in the way of Walking Tall, and got to see the entirely drool-worthy trailer for Troy.
Can we say, I don't know if I will be able to survive the movie with that much droolage going on?! It just floored me to my seat, and then there was the whole epicness of it all and *whimper* We decided it was a movie you could only go and see with girlfriends who knew your drooling proclivities. Maybe we can bring Ed too. :)
Onto Hidalgo. Love the horse--no wonder Viggo bought him! Love the garb. Love that the daughter saves her own ass and has her own priorities in what she needs to do! Omar Sharif kicks major behind. Correctly predicted the chippies that wanted in Viggo's pants (can ya blame them?!). Victorian chippie--great dresses, great robe, but if ya wanted Viggo/Frank Hopkins, you should have been a little less of a skank.
There was a bit of Disney moralizing at the end. But it was Disney, so it was expected.
Gah! The tent. "Let in the light" *claps hands and servants go running to roll up the sides of the tent*
There were so many good lines in Arabic. :)
Anyway, Friday night, I had a Viggo dream. It was a combo Hidalgo and Around the World in 80 Days dream. It's a little vague, but I remember it was rather twisted. Ah well.
Saturday, I was a slug. I slept until like 11, knitted until 6, took a nap until 9, knitted until midnight... Woke up Sunday morning, all bright and chipper by like 8.
Did the grocery shopping thing, showed my mother my knitting, happily continued to knit during the day while I let my cats in and out and in and out and in and out. Did a little gardening. Pulled up a bunch of mint from my herb garden and one honkin' big fennel plant. I still have other fennel plants to rid myself of. I need to prune the sage and make it grow as a bush, and then actually plant things in the herb garden that I want to have as herbs (catnip).
Got online for a little bit, but then came the infamous call. "Return of the King is playing at the cheap theater. 8pm" to which the only answer is "Wanna go a little early to have dinner at the good chineese place first?!" So Kate and I went. To get our LotR fix before the end of May when the theatrical version comes out.
A Diversion!
Yes, we know, Legolas.
So I've seen the movie like 5 or 6 times... This was the first time I noticed that Frodo's shirt that he wears through the whole trilogy is striped. He's got pinstripes on it! And Pippin's shirt has matching embroidery on the cuffs. Elijah must be tired of hanging off cliffs at the end of movies. It happened in The Good Son. Still wondering who the girl is that the camera holds on right before Aragorn sings. Wonder who she's related to. I suppose that'll have to wait until the commentaries come out. This was the first time since the first time I saw the movie that I wasn't distracted by the MASSIVE (CG, AI background figure, not that he was huge) guy who was just sitting there looking for an orc to fight and hopping back and forth on his feet while his King was getting his head stepped on! Frodo still manages to make a Hobbit look evil there at the end.
The Charge of the Rhohirrim still gets me. So does Sam's "I can't carry it, but I can carry you!" line. *sigh*
A diversion!
Yes, thank you Legolas.
