*sigh* the phone company  
So I got home from work last night, and *poof!* there was no dial tone. I noticed this because I wanted to call my mother to let her know that I had 2 of her 3 bathroom curtains done. At least done enough to show and have some options. ANYWAY....

There was no dial tone. That was icky.

It lead to miscommunication nastiness.

It lead me to have to call my provider this morning and tell them "last night, I got home from work and discovered I had no dial tone. I would like one again. Please fix it."

And the chippie (who was actually very nice, but I think a little bit blonde) asked "did you call this in last night?" Which upon retrospect was probably as standard question to see if it's a new incident report or an old one.

So I answered... "No... I had no dial tone. Hence me calling it in this morning."

But hopefully they will start getting it fixed. So if you call me and there's no answer, there's a good reason why. I have no dial tone.

In what turned out to be an unrelated incident, when I let my kitties out this morning, there was a Verizon truck out by my phone pole. I asked them pointing at that... "Is this broken?" Thinking if it was, then that was the solution, he would fix it and YAY! I would have a dial tone, thinking I like fixing things by ESP.

Nope, the guy was there to run a phone line across the street. But he did tell me that he couldn't find a good connection up there and that all the connections were old and nasty. Which makes me think that that's where my dial tone has gone *pout*
